Terms and Conditions

Upstep competition applies to all bands who play original material of any modern genre, and have long-term goals as a group.

It is important that all entrants read the following information prior to and as a condition to registration;

Registration

Strictly, all registered band members must be a minimum age of 16yrs, and a maximum age of 25yrs.

Any members not within these age limits please contact us to discuss eligibility.

Registration closing date; Feb 13th, 2008. All registration forms must be completed in full and forwarded with attached photocopies of I.D (for each individual band member), and money order ($85 per band) before closing date.

To forward registration papers; please contact us [1] for the postal address

Photocopied Proof of I.D and age (acceptable sources being Student I.D, birth certificate or Drivers licence) must be provided along with Registration forms for each band member.

Proof of I.D and age (acceptable sources being Student I.D, birth certificate or Drivers licence) is again to be presented at stage 1 trial registration, to an Upstep registrar 30 mins prior to your scheduled trial time.

If any band members are younger than 18yrs, it is important that the band acknowleges and accepts as a condition to grand prize entitlement, any under aged members must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the full duration of the Escape Travel two day accomodation Sydney package. As the package is designed for 6 band members and covers costs for 6 individuals, any accompanying adult will be required, if necessary, to pay for their own travel costs in full.

In order to keep our competition process running smoothly we will be offering one scheduled trial time per band only. Generally, scheduled trial times will be allocated in order of band registration receipt, and at any time over the stage 1 trial period (between 7am -4pm 23rd and 24th February, 2008).

All entrants will receive notification of their scheduled date and time via post or email, and following registration closing date (5th Feb, 2008).

If, following registration, a band is unable to make their scheduled trial time, it is important all members understand no registration fees will be refunded.

If your registered band is unable to attend trials due to unforseen circumstances, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please notify Upstep of your cancellation as soon as possible. Due to your courtesy, we may be able to offer your trial time to another band hoping to compete.

Due to event time restrictions and Upstep’s efforts to ensure all entrants receive a fair opportunity to compete, once allocated, scheduled trial times cannot be re-negotiated (under any circumstances). Therefore, as a condition of registration, we ask all band members agree to all of the above conditions before forwarding registration forms.

Stage One Trials Rules and Regulations

UPSTEP STAGE 1 TRIALS

Date; 23rd and 24th February, 2008

Location; Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden.

All bands, and each individual band member, are required to register 30 mins before their scheduled trial time to an official Upstep registrar (you will be notified of registrar’s location via email or post).

As I am sure you will appreciate, our event aims to provide all entrants with a reliable booking time and opportunity to perform at trials. In order to be fair to all entrants we encourage bands to be well prepared and timely. To avoid any disappointment we advise that bands arrive at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden I hr (minimum) prior to their scheduled trial time, in order to allow for parking, to organise equipment, and to allow for unforseen delays.

Proof of age and I.D will be required upon band and member registration. Any late band or band member registration will cause the band to be disqualified from competition trials. Late bands will not be permitted to perform within their scheduled trial time- no exceptions, sorry.

No refunds will be offered for late registration.

If late, a band may be re-scheduled only if a scheduled trial time becomes available due to cancellation.

Any replacement or additional band members are required to register prior to Feb 10th. If, due to extenuating circumstances this is not possible, please contact Upstep immediately. No unregistered band members will be permitted to perform at trials.

Bands will be expected to clear and leave the stage area immediately following their scheduled trial performance, and within their scheduled time frame. This allows Upstep changeover stage crews to prepare for the next band, and enables our trials to run smoothly.

Following your scheduled trial time and performance, if you do not intend to join the guests within the Top Of the Cross Function Room, we ask that all band members please leave the club and surrounding grounds as soon as is manageable. This would be greatly appreciated as it will help reduce the risk of congestion within the club, and will be considerate to other bands as they prepare for performance. Thanks.

STAGE ONE BAND MATERIAL

All band material used is to be appropriate to the Club environment and regulations, and for the community audience. Therefore we ask that material used not contain any swearing, political or racial comments, or any other subject considered sensitive or offensive to the general public. If there is any doubt or uncertainty as to the material your band would like to perform for the competition, please contact us in advance of the competition trials. If a band does not agree to this condition, or does not comply, Upstep has the right to cancel their performance at any time (during the trial performance if required).

FOOD AND DRINKS

No BYO food or drinks permitted in the Top of the Cross Function Room (sorry, club regulations). However, the Canberra Southern Cross Club has a great restaurant area for you to enjoy, and snacks and drinks will be available at the canteen within the Top of the Coss Function room for your convenience.

TOP OF THE CROSS FUNCTION ROOM RE-ENTRY.

In support of their fellow musicians, all Registered band members are invited to join our guests for free on the day of their scheduled trials (door entry fee will be required for general public).

COMPLIMENTARY PASSES

All individual entrants will recieve one complimentary pass upon registration for Stage One Trials. We encourage family members and friends to support our entrants, and in this spirit, offer free door entry to one visitor per band member on the day of the bands performance.
